I’ve traveled to a few places in my life that just cannot be described in words. There’s no appropriate word or phrase to describe the vivacity of the colors, the interesting yet often complicated history, the warmth of the people and the intricate architecture. Segovia is one of those places. So instead of trying to fumble my way through describing Segovia, have a look at my photos and make an assessment for yourself.
Ok, I swear I could go on forever with the pictures but I’ll stop now. What did you think? Does the “old-world” charm of Segovia look like your kind of place? Have you been? Let me know in the comments!
How to get to Segovia
Segovia is an easy 1 hour 15 minute bus ride from Madrid and the perfect day trip. To get to Segovia, take the metro to Principe Pio bus and metro station. Enter the centro de commercial from the main level (shopping mall), and go down two floors to the bus terminal. Go to the ticket station and purchase a round-trip bus ticket through the company La Sepulvedana to Segovia for 14.55 euros. Tickets can also be purchased online but for some reason, when I tried to buy my ticket with my card, the purchase wouldn’t go through so I bought it in person the day before my trip. We went to Segovia on a Friday, and buses leave Madrid heading to Segovia at least once every half hour. Make sure to reserve a bus with a direct route as some buses make stops in other cities before arriving in Segovia.
You probably won’t need any longer than 7 hours in Segovia. We initially planned for a 9.5 hour trip to Segovia (on an evening bus that left at 8:45 pm) but by 6 pm, we ran out of things to do so we headed back to Madrid. It was super easy to change our tickets and we didn’t have to pay a fee. Happy travels!
