Our second day in Mexico is one I like to refer to as the longest day in history. I’m obviously being dramatic, but I just mention that so that you know that there may end up being three posts all about the same day haha. A portion of this day that I was very excited about was our trip to the San Javier Mission, built in 1759 by Jesuit missionaries.
I attended a Jesuit school for middle school, so I was very interested in viewing one of the most well-preserved churches in Mexico and learning about how the Jesuits came to the area. You’ll see in the photos that the church is still used today and they were in the process of gearing up for Easter. The church is the crown jewel of San Javier, a farming town on the outskirts of Loreto. After exploring the church, and saying a few prayers on my part, we peeked in on the few shops in the area and even made a few friends. Mexican pups are the best!
